It is believed that there are more fundamental gauge symmetries beyond those described by the Standard Model of particle physics. The scales of these new gauge symmetries are usually too high to be reachable by particle colliders. Considering that the phase transition (PT) relating to the spontaneous breaking of new gauge symmetries to the electroweak symmetry might be strongly first order, we propose considering the stochastic gravitational waves (GW) arising from this phase transition as an indirect way of detecting these new fundamental gauge symmetries. As an illustration, we explore the possibility of detecting the stochastic GW generated from the PT of \begin{document}$ {\bf{B}}-{\bf{L}}$\end{document} in the space-based interferometer detectors. Our study demonstrates that the GW energy spectrum is reachable by the LISA, Tianqin, Taiji, BBO, and DECIGO experiments only for the case where the spontaneous breaking of \begin{document}$ {\bf{B}}-{\bf{L}}$\end{document} is triggered by at least two electroweak singlet scalars.  相似文献

We propose a new method to test the cosmic distance duality relation using the strongly lensed gravitational waves. The simultaneous observation of the image positions, relative time delay between different images, redshift measurements of the lens and the source, together with the mass modelling of the lens galaxy, provide the angular diameter distance to the gravitational wave source. On the other hand, the luminosity distance to the source can be obtained from the observation of the gravitational wave signals. To our knowledge this is the first time a method is proposed to simultaneously measure the angular diameter distance and the luminosity distance from the same source. Hence, the strongly lensed gravitational waves provide a unique method to test the cosmic distance duality relation. With the construction of the third generation gravitational detectors such as the Einstein Telescope, it will be possible to test the cosmic distance duality relation with an accuracy of a few percent.  相似文献

We performed laboratory experiments on bubbly channel flows using silicone oil, which has a low surface tension and clean interface to bubbles, as a test fluid to evaluate the wall shear stress modification for different regimes of bubble migration status. The channel Reynolds numbers of the flow ranged from 1000 to 5000, covering laminar, transition and turbulent flow regimes. The bubble deformation and swarms were classified as packing, film, foam, dispersed, and stretched states based on visualization of bubbles as a bulk void fraction changed. In the dispersed and film states, the wall shear stress reduced by 9% from that in the single-phase condition; by contrast, the wall shear stress increased in the stretched, packing, and foam states. We carried out statistical analysis of the time-series of the wall shear stress in the transition and turbulent-flow regimes. Variations of the PDF of the shear stress and the higher order moments in the statistic indicated that the injection of bubbles generated pseudo-turbulence in the transition regime and suppressed drag-inducing events in the turbulent regime. Bubble images and measurements of shear stress revealed a correlated wave with a time lag, for which we discuss associated to the bubble dynamics and effective viscosity of the bubble mixture in wall proximity.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The article deals with the study of plane wave propagation in the thermoelastic medium in the presence of voids. The problem is considered in the context of three-phase-lag model of generalized thermoelasticity. There exists three longitudinal waves, namely elastic (E-mode), thermal (T-mode) and volume fraction (V-mode) in addition to transverse waves which get decoupled from the rest of motion and not affected by thermal and volume fraction fields. The fundamental solution of the system of differential equations in case of steady oscillations in terms of the elementary functions has been constructed. The phase velocity and attenuation coefficient of these waves are computed numerically and presented graphically.  相似文献

Thin films (monolayer and bilayer) of cylinder forming polystyrene‐block‐polydimethylsiloxane (PS‐b‐PDMS) were shear aligned by the swelling and deswelling of a crosslinked PDMS pad that was physically adhered to the film during solvent vapor annealing. The nanostructures formed by self‐assembly were exposed to ultraviolet‐ozone to partially oxidize the PDMS, followed by calcination in air at 500 °C. In this process, the PS segments were fully decomposed, while the PDMS yielded silica nanostructures. The highly aligned PDMS cylinders were thus deposited as silica nanolines on the silicon substrate. Using a bilayer film, the center‐to‐center distance of these features were effectively halved from 38 to 19 nm. Similarly, by sequential shear‐alignment of two distinct layers, a rhombic array of silica nanolines was fabricated. The photochemical and photophysical properties of peripheral and nonperipheral zinc and indium phthalocyanines containing 7‐oxy‐3,4‐dimethylcoumarin synthesized were investigated in this study. 7‐Hydroxy‐3,4‐dimethylcoumarin ( 1 ) was synthesized via Pechmann condensation reaction and then the phthalonitrile derivatives [4‐(7‐oxy‐3,4‐dimethylcoumarino)phthalonitrile ( 2 ) and 3‐(7‐oxy‐3,4‐dimethylcoumarino)phthalonitrile ( 3 )] were synthesized by nucleophilic aromatic substitution. Phthalocyanine compounds containing coumarin units on peripheral ( 4 and 5 ) and nonperipheral ( 6 and 7 ) positions were prepared via cyclotetramerization of phthalonitrile compounds. All compounds' characterizations were performed by spectroscopic methods and elemental analysis. The phthalocyanine derivatives' ( 4–7 ) photochemical and photophysical properties were studied in DMF. The photophysical (fluorescence quantum yields and lifetimes) and photochemical (singlet oxygen and photodegradation quantum yields) properties of these novel phthalocyanines ( 4 – 7 ) were studied in DMF. They produced good singlet oxygen (e.g., ΦΔ = 0.93 for 7 ) and showed appropriate photodegradation (in the order of 10?5), which is very important for photodynamic therapy applications.  相似文献

The study is focused on the synthesis of a new Co(II) and Ni(II) metal complexes, which is synthesized by the reaction of the isatin 4‐aminoantipyrine Schiff base ligand with selected divalent Co(II) and Ni(II) ions and their possible applications as flame retardant additives in paint formulations for surface coating application. The prepared metal complexes were characterized using a combination of Fourier transform infrared, elemental analysis, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, 13C‐NMR spectra, and mass spectroscopy. The prepared Schiff base ligand metal complexes were physically added to alkyd paint formulation to give coating formulations at a laboratory scale and then applied onto plywood and steel panels using a brush. The ignitability and oxygen index values obtained indicated that the paint which contained the prepared Co(II) and Ni(II) metal complexes as additives exhibited very good flame retardant. The physical and mechanical characteristics of the coatings were studied in order to estimate any disadvantages due to the incorporation of the additives. It was discovered that the added substances did not impact the hardness, flexibility, and adhesion of the prepared coating films. The gloss of the paint formulation film was improved due to the incorporation of the aromatic ring into the formulation and the level of the oil percent.  相似文献

Na2FePO4F is a promising cathode material for a Na-ion battery because of its high electronic capacity and good cycle performance. In this work, first principle calculations combined with cluster expansion and the Monte Carlo method have been applied to analyze the charge and discharge processes of Na2FePO4F by examining the voltage curve and the phase diagram. As a result of the density functional theory calculation and experimental verification with structural analysis, we found that the most stable structure of Na1.5FePO4F has the P21/b11 space group, which has not been reported to date. The estimated voltage curve has two clear plateaus caused by the two-phase structure composed of P21/b11 Na1.5FePO4F and Pbcn Na2FePO4F or Na1FePO4F and separated along the c-axis direction. The phase diagram shows the stability of the phase-separated structure. Considering that Na2FePO4F has diffusion paths in the a- and c-axis directions, Na2FePO4F has both innerphase and interphase diffusion paths. We suggest that the stable two-phase structure and the diffusion paths to both the innerphase and interphases are a key for the very clear plateau. We challenge to simulate a nonequilibrium state at high rate discharge with high temperature by introducing a coordinate-dependent chemical potential. The simulation shows agreement with the experimental discharge curve on the disappearance of the two plateaus. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献
